I have been building a gas reduction kiln and building this website. It is engaging work, laying down 25 kilo cement blocks, heavy and profoundly simple objects, as foundations to a kiln which will reach twelve hundred degrees. Right now I have lost sight of the pots I want to make, and become obsessed with the minutiae of making these 'things'. Building the website is laying down (blocks of) code, trying to keep the objects simple and effective. My idea is to combine skills I have: film making, editing and photography with new ones learnt more recently: throwing and (web)site construction. The screen and the concrete are absorbing, both make for tired shoulders.
